It seems like the promoters of the new casino in Summer Country, Kansas will have only two weeks to receive the leaders of the city political support. The casino promoters also hope to gain collaboration from their neighbors in Winfield and Arkansas City in putting pressure on Senator Greta Goodwin from Winfield.
The Director of Sumner County Economic Development applied to the Winfield Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors last Tuesday and asked for their support in find a location for the casino resort in the city. The President and CEO of the Winfield Chamber of Commerce said that the issue would be discussed at the Chamber Board retreat on Saturday. Bate said that he was not aware that the casino nominated location is Summer Country but he appreciated Teufel direct approach to the Chamber.
Teufel said that local officials are still working on putting Summer Country in Kansas legislative gambling map. Kansas Governor, Kathleen Sebelius recommended to all counties and cities that want a resort casino in their area to get the community provision. In the mean time, Harvey and Summer Countries have managed to gain their community support.
