The Fremont Hotel & Casino Human Resources Department has been recognized as the top employee relations group in the United States.

The "Human Resources Excellence Award" recognizes the best human resources departments in the country for providing outstanding internal customer service to employees and managers. The 1999 winners were determined by a survey of 123,918 employees from 629 companies.

The Fremont's Human Resource Department is comprised of five employees whose duties include applicant screening and employee relations an service to the resort's staff of nearly 1,000 individuals.

Another Boyd Gaming Corporation resort, the California Hotel & Casino, placed third in that category, which is comprised of firms employing from 501 to 2,500 employees.
