Philadelphia Police raided a Port Richmond warehouse where an illegal gambling activity took place. Police arrested 30 people and confiscated about 5,000 dollars in cash.
Councilman Frank DiCiccos office received complaint from citizens about the gambling operation. Police investigation led to a major betting ring called Philadelphia Players Club.
According to Lieutenant Charles Green, it was a major betting ring where high rolling card games were played. Police confiscated about 5,000 dollars, gambling equipment, an automatic teller machine and pool table. Police will not charge the 25 gamblers who were arrested during the raid.
