A man who operated an illegal sports book was sentenced 8 months in prison. David Cecchetelli pleaded guilty for being part in an illegal sports betting ring linked to the Genovese crime family. He admitted of collecting more than 3 million dollars in sports wagers.
According to the prosecution, Cecchetelli was operating a sports betting ring along with Anthony Arillotta, who also pleaded guilty and sentenced to 3 years in prison. Federal agents claim that Arillotta was a subjected to Adolfo Big Al Bruno, the Genovese family boss.
Federal agents say that Cecchetelli was also connected to the Genovese crime family. His lawyer, Dan Kelly denies Cecchetelli relations with any crime organization. The prosecutor in this trial, Todd Newhouse, said the most of the sports betting operations are connected to crime organizations.
