Kate Jamieson of Lalor is accused of stealing 7.2 million dollars from her Bendigo Bank to cover her casino gambling debts.
Woman admits of stealing more than 7 million dollars from the Bendigo Bank. According to Kate Jamieson of Lalor, she was tempted by Melbournes Crown Casino to spend more money on gambling that caused her to steal from he former employees.
Jamieson, 38, a former loans officer at Bendigo Bank also admitted of suffering from gambling addiction. She stated before the Melbourne Magistrates Court that she used to gamble at the casino 2-3 nights a week, and spending an estimated amount of 20,000 dollars on each visit.
According to Jamieson statement, she started playing on the 1 dollar video poker machines 6 years ago. She stated that after she was offered a VIP room membership at the Crown Casino her gambling problem deteriorated.
Jamieson is accused of stealing 7.2 million dollars. She also faces different 144 charges including obtaining financial advantage by deception and false accounting.
