The state of Nevada has posted record gambling revenue in January. It seems that the Chinese New Year has a lot to do with casinos benefits, since it fell during the last 3 days of January and ended on a weekend, thus attracting lots of visitors to casinos. According to the statement made by the state%u2019s Gaming Control Board, the gaming win in Nevada rose 24,4 %, that is, 1,14 billion dollars. Meanwhile, in the Las Vegas Strip, gambling revenue rose 29,5 %, that is, 627,5 million dollars.
According to an analyst at Deutsche Bank, Marc Falcone, another reason for this increase apart from the Chinese New Year is the fact that December ended on a Saturday. To Falcone, these are only signs of the good period the industry is going through in Las Vegas. Major gaming companies in Nevada are Mandalay Bay, which owns MGM Mirage, Caesars Palace, Harrah%u2019s Entertainment, Wynn Resorts, which owns the Wynn Las Vegas resort and casino, Boyd Gaming and Station Casinos, among others.
