One of the members of Pittsburgh two financial administration boards has resigned, mentioning his connections to one of the casino proposals. The Rev. James Simms said he did not want his connections to conflict with his role in the Intergovernmental Cooperation Authority.
Simms is tied to Pittsburgh First, a partnership created by the Penguins, Isle of Capri Casinos and Nationwide Realty. Isle of Capri plans to build the Penguins a new arena if they will receive a casino license. Simms leaving opens two positions out of five positions on the ICA board, both of the positions deal with gambling issues.
William Lieberman resigned in September. Lieberman is an investor in Forest City Enterprises, which has joined Harrahs in an application to build a casino at Station Square. According to the law, House Minority Leader Bill DeWeese is obliged to find a replacement in 30 years, but a replacement for Lieberman was not selected yet.
